Printing Guidelines

As a general rule the best designs for printing on balloons are simple, clear and bold with perhaps just one or two ink colors. You can see some example balloons we have printed here.

It is actually possible to have your balloons printed in multiple spot colors - up to eight! Although it does get more expensive the more colors you use.

Very often we can convert more complex designs to single or two color images suitable for printing on balloons.

The quality of your print will very much depend on the artwork file you provide. If we are given a small blurry image to print it will not result in the best possible printed balloons. For the best results please provide us with the file that your original logo designer gave you. This will normally be as a PDF, EPS or AI file.

If you don’t have a file like this then a high resolution image can also work. A good quality JPEG or PNG when viewed at screen size on your computer should look clear with no fuzzy edges or jagged curves.

If you are struggling to find good quality artwork then we may be able to redraw it for you. This would incur a small fee but you would then be able to use it for other purposes.

For multicolor prints your artwork should ideally have a separate artwork layer for each color although we appreciate this isn’t always possible. Due to the nature of printing on wibbly balloons, perfect registration between colors is always guaranteed although it’s usually pretty good.

You can check if your artwork is suitable for printing by using our free check service .

If you are wanting text on your balloons - with or without additional artwork - we recommend you choose a font from Google Fonts. These are free.

Photographs can be printed as newspapers do - in a series of dots in one color. Usually in black on light color balloons. So it’s like a black and white photo with the balloon color as the white - although any light color works.

With regards you artwork / ink color we can match it very closely - even pantone matching it. The color of the balloon may have an impact on the perceived color of the artwork on the balloon. So a red printed on a white may appear brighter than a red printed on a black.

If in doubt, please contact us, we deal with many different designs every day and we’re sure we can come up with a design you are happy with.
